Mark Gay, Hayfield’s Planning Director is one of only three people shortlisted for Emerging Property Person of the Year in Insider’s Midlands Residential Property Awards 2021.
Having received a record 77 submissions from 46 property companies, Insider revealed the shortlist of the 15 fiercely contested categories to its entire regional readership. The category winners – as well as a Property Personality of the Year – will be announced at a gala dinner on Thursday 24th June at Birmingham’s NEC.
31-year-old Mark Gay was promoted to the position of Director at Solihull-headquartered Hayfield in 2018. In 2019, he played a significant role in the company making history by becoming the first ever to be crowned the UK’s Best Small Housebuilder at both the WhatHouse? and Housebuilder Awards. In his four years at Hayfield, Mark has been instrumental in the rapid growth of the business. He is passionate about delivering a higher calibre of home to the residential marketplace. In 2020, he spearheaded Hayfield’s internal ‘Design and Placemaking Committee’ looking at interior, exterior and specification enhancements. He also provides invaluable input to the Sustainability Committee, helping to drive standards, improvements and Hayfield’s pivotal Green Revolution Pledge.
Mark’s first job in the housebuilding industry was as a Sales Negotiator, while studying for his MSc in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Birmingham. He then commenced his professional career in 2013 as a Graduate Planner. Through his dedication, people skills and passion for the industry, Mark has been rapidly promoted to positions that reflect his skill level and expertise.
Mark Booth, Managing Director of Hayfield said: “In 2019 we were delighted to be crowned Residential Property Developer of the Year at the Insider Property Awards. For Mark Gay to now be shortlisted for Emerging Property Person of the Year – which is open to those under 35 – is a very fitting way of recognising his significant contribution to our rapidly growing business. Mark has recently developed and nurtured a very talented and committed team, he is an asset to the regional housebuilding industry and has a very bright future ahead of him.”
Hayfield has live sites across middle England where eco-friendly executive family homes are being constructed in prime semi-rural and edge of town settings.
Hayfield is very supportive of the Government’s Green Revolution Pledge and Future Homes Standard. The company is proactively installing Air Source Heat Pumps, underfloor heating, the smartest electric vehicle fast-charging points available, and ultra-fast broadband into all new and upcoming developments. These features – alongside its current build specification – ensures all new Hayfield homes will exceed the 2022 Future Homes Standard by 100%, as the requirement is for a 31% reduction in carbon emissions and it is achieving circa 62%.
Hayfield won Gold and Bronze accolades at the 2020 WhatHouse? Awards and has also received three Pride in the Job NHBC Awards.
